    Uri Akavia

    Uri Akavia is a researcher at Kohelet Policy Forum focusing his research on the cost of living and its causes, especially monopolies and cartels in the Israeli economy.

    Uri has a MSc. and a BSc. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Chemistry and Physics respectively, and has participated in the student program of the Shalem Center. Speaks Hebrew, English and German. In recent years he has taught Chemistry at the Hebrew University and at the Azriely College in Jerusalem. He has also worked for the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection in regulating air pollution caused by transportation. The master´s Thesis he wrote deals with prevention of air pollution from power plants .Currently, in addition to his research work, he operates a pilot plant, located in Rabin coal fired power plant, for an Israeli start-up company, aimed at filtering out air pollutants and converting them into fertilizer that can be used in agriculture.

    Uri is married with one child, lives in Jerusalem.

    Adv. Avital Ben-Shelomo

    Avital holds an LLB with honors from Bar Ilan University and was an intern for the district court deputy president, Judge Shiloh. She is also a graduate of the Jewish Statesmanship Center.
    Prior to her law studies, Avital completed her first year of bio-medical engineering in the Technion with distinction. Ben-Shlomo switched fields of study with the ambition to take part in social and public activity that will eventually strengthen Israel's Jewish identity as well as the governabilty of the representatives.

  • Shiran Vaknin Froymovich

    Shiran Vaknin Froymovich

    Researcher.

    Shiran holds a B.A. summa cum laude in economics and management from the Open University of Israel and also holds an M.A. in economics from Ben-Gurion University. During her studies she researched the sovereign debt market. Her thesis was an empirical examination of the sovereign debt credit ratings over two decades.

    Shiran joined the Fellows Program at the Milken Innovation Center. The program promotes long-term strategic decision-making by placing outstanding University graduates in government ministries. Shiran was placed at the Israel Tax Authority, researching tax incentive models for social investments and affordable housing.

    Shiran is a teaching assistant of several economic courses at The College of Management. She also worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant at Ben-Gurion University and Ashkelon Academic College.
    Shiran was an active member of Ben-Gurion University Student Association and served a year as the Chairman of the Finance Committee. She was also a Leadership Coordinator at ISEF Foundation. Today she volunteers at the Nachshonim Venture, helping nonprofit organizations develop income generating initiatives.

    Interned in the High Court of Justice Department of the State Attorney's Office and is currently licensed to practice law. She holds a BA degree with honors in law from Bar-Ilan University, two full years of study at Midreshet Migdal Oz, and a two-day program at Midreshet Migdal Oz, which combines Torah studies with degree studies.
    During the years of her studies, she served in various training roles as part of Masa Yisraeli, Livnot VeleHibanot, Kibbutz Migdal Oz, and Midreshet Afikim. She is also a graduate of the Jewish Statesmanship Center's program for Outstanding Students.

She holds a BA in Law and Communications from the Hebrew University. During the course of her studies, she volunteered as a counselor and worked as a coordinator in the social-educational program "Universita Ba'am". She participated in the Clinic for the Rights of People with Disabilities and managed the group of students with disabilities at the Hebrew University. Graduate of the Excellence Program of the Statesmanship College. She was a tour guide at the Golan Field School and the Hermon of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel.
